Cookie Policy
Effective date: 15 October 2026
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and hand back on the next visit, which is how sites remember a login or a preference. Similar technologies do the same job by other means: storage areas inside the browser, invisible images that record a request, or techniques that identify a browser from the combination of its settings.
What we checked
- Cookies set by this site
- Not used. slowspan.online sets no cookies of its own, of any kind, at any point.
- Cookies set by others through this site
- Not used. No third party is given the opportunity to set one, because no third-party content is loaded on any page.
- localStorage
- Not used. Nothing is written to it, including the checklist boxes.
- sessionStorage
- Not used. Nothing about your visit is held between page loads.
- IndexedDB
- Not used. No database is created in your browser.
- Tracking pixels
- Not used. There are no images, beacons or invisible requests for measurement or advertising.
- Browser fingerprinting
- Not used. Nothing on the site examines or combines browser characteristics to recognise a visitor.
- Web fonts and third-party scripts
- Not used. The pages use typefaces already present on your computer, and the only script is a short first-party file that opens the small-screen menu and prints a checklist.
- Server access logs
- Used. Our hosting provider records ordinary request logs — IP address, date and time, requested URL, referring page if sent, and user-agent string — and keeps them for 30 days.
Why there is no consent banner
A consent banner exists to obtain permission before something is placed on your device. Nothing is placed on your device here, so a banner would be asking you to agree to something that is not happening. We would rather tell you the truth on a page you can read than put a dialogue in front of you that misdescribes the site.
What does happen when you open a page
Your browser requests the page, the stylesheet and the small script from slowspan.online, and nothing else. Our hosting provider writes a line in its access log for each of those requests, keeps it for 30 days and then deletes it. That is the entire record of your visit anywhere in our control. The Privacy Policy sets out what those logs are used for and who can see them.
The checklists do not remember ticks
Every checklist on this site is printed text with drawn boxes, not a form. There is nothing to click, nothing is marked as done, and no record of your progress exists anywhere — not on our server, not in your browser's storage, not in a cookie. If you want to keep a record, print the page or copy it into a notebook; that is the only form of memory this course has.
After you follow an affiliate link
This site carries paid affiliate links to one game, described on the Affiliate Disclosure page. Once you click one, you are on somebody else's website. The game publisher and the affiliate network that operates the link may set cookies or use similar technology on their own domains, typically to record which site the visit came from. We do not control those, cannot switch them off from here and are not told what they contain. Their own cookie and privacy notices are the place to read about them, and they are worth reading.
Blocking or clearing cookies in general
Nothing on this site requires it, but as general practice every major browser lets you manage cookies from its settings, usually under a heading such as privacy, security or site permissions. From there you can normally block cookies entirely, block only those set by third parties, clear everything currently stored, or delete the data held for one particular site. Browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards the lot when it closes. The exact wording differs between browsers and changes with each version, so your browser's own help pages are the accurate guide.
If this ever changes
We do not intend to introduce cookies. If that ever changed, this page would be rewritten and published with a new effective date, and a working consent mechanism would be in place before a single cookie was set — not afterwards, and not with the first one already written while the question was being asked.
